We visit the River Ranch frequently for special occasions with our family. We decided to host a birthday /retirement party for a large group. To say they exceeded our expectations is an understatement! Food was excellent, service impeccable and you can't beat the setting for a perfect Tahoe experience! We are so happy with the entire experience!
* Bison Short Ribs
I recently tried the bison short ribs with mashed potatoes, and it was an absolutely phenomenal meal! The short ribs were perfectly tender and packed with flavor, with just the right amount of glaze to enhance the natural richness of the bison. The meat practically melted in my mouth---so satisfying! The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery, a perfect complement to the hearty ribs. Together, they created a dish that was both indulgent and comforting. The portion size was generous, and the presentation was beautiful, with fresh herbs adding a nice touch of color. If you're looking for something a bit different from the usual beef short ribs, this dish is a must-try. Highly recommend pairing it with a glass of red wine to complete the experience. I'll definitely be back for this again!
KING BED, BALCONY OVER RIVER
My wife and I have been staying at the River Ranch Hotel for over 40+- years. For all of those years we have enjoyed the most professional, friendly and accommodating staff and dinning experiences. Although all Guest Services are excellent, Most recently Danielle has catered to our every wish, when we need to amend, change or extend our visits, she has been the most accommodating, she is the most pleasant person that we have ever dealt with and any hotel we have stayed at for our 41 years of marriage. We have booked our favorite room again this year to celebrate our 42'nd anniversary. We have already booked reservations at the restaurant for several meals during our stay and have asked for Asa. We listen to his meal recommendations and choose accordingly, and no matter what it is that we order, the Chef always delivers on Asa's promise of delectability. He is one sharp, attentive, responsive person and always fills us with great food and pleasant conversation, elevating the fabulous dinning experience to a level unmatched by any other restaurant we have ever eaten at in the entire Tahoe/Truckee/Reno area. River Ranch has the best burger (dinner menu) in town! So delicious.

We celebrated my Birthday with 24 for dinner on the patio late June, 2024! It was a beautiful evening by the river. Appetizers were delicious (calamari, Brussel sprouts and more). All dinners came out at the same time, hot and delicious. Our server did a great job! Every single person loved their meal. Thank you River Ranch for making my evening special!
Duck Tacos
We had a great meal at the river ranch last night and enjoyed the duck tacos! The duck was tender, the tortilla was tasty, and the salsa was perfectly tasty. We will order it again!
Ranch Stroganoff
Every time I stay at the River Ranch Lodge, I always book us a dinner reservation so I can order the Ranch Stroganoff! It is the perfect balance of creamy pasta and and juicy beef and is the most comforting meal after a day on the mountain. I also highly recommend the creme brulee for dessert or the chocolate torte! It's delicious and a must-order, every time we visit!

I had the cheeseburger during lunch on the patio. It was one of the best burgers I've had in ages, and the view of the river was superb. Highly recommend.
* ^New Zealand Elk Chops
We came here for a graduation party for my brother and i was wanting to congratulate him but i just needed to say something about the Elk chops and congratulate the meat. This was impeccable and i loved how it left a refreshing and pleasing taste in my mouth and was pleasing to my taste buds. Also the texture was amazing. 10/10
