I just retired, having spent the better part of the last forty years working on various river projects across the country, as a water rights attorney and a hydrologist. I love the way RRL is one with the Truckee River; I love the meander at which RRL is located, the graceful bend inviting this architectural wonder to embrace the river, hitch its fortunes to the river, frame its beauty, while respecting its power. I love the river sounds, beautiful, powerful, mesmerizing 'white' noise, in this case, actually white, as the water crashes over the rocks, and as the foam and mist create gray-while colors, dancing in the air. I love RRL's patios and balconies, daring proximity and cantilevered defiance, providing a myriad of vantage points for the lucky ones staying at RRL.
I love the River Ranch Inn because you have the best location, rooms, food and atmosphere in the Lake Tahoe region. Why would i stay anywhere else.
My trip up to the River Ranch with my daughter several summers ago was one of the most memorable mother-daughter trips we've had so far! We attended a Reggae Concert at the ranch during our stay and had the most gorgeous view of the river from our room. The dinner was absolutely wonderful! The weather was perfect the entire time. The staff was very accommodating and made us feel right at home. So many activities right outside the ranch. We biked, hiked, swam and floated down the river which took us down to the river ranch. We walked up to the bar and enjoyed a well deserved rum runner. 🙂
We have been back many times since then. Always enjoy our stay at The River Ranch!
River Ranch – like checking into a home away from home.
Everything about RR reminds of old school classic ski vacation with my family. It's the simple charm, that adds to the warmth. An envelope with you name on it with your room key. No fancy check in. The rooms, simple but very comfortable, with a view of the river and a simple bathroom. After a day on the slopes, a killer meal at the bar, the simple room might as well be a five star resort, it more than does the job. The bar, speaks for itself, great service, stiff drinks, no attitude, the escape everyone needs is provided.
Access it's the 50 yard line sky box location. On the few occasions we leave, TC is right there, access to squaw & Alpine is the best.
River Ranch a simple elegance !
River Ranch Lodge has had a place in my heart for as long as I can remember. My parents brought all the kids to River Ranch each winter to ski at Alpine Meadows and would even come stay during the summers. I remember playing by the river in the summers, and the snow filled trees surrounding the lodge in the winter. Now I have the opportunity to bring the same joy and build similar memories for my 8 year old son. We also always look forward the Famous Ranch Nachos at the restaurant and the complimentary breakfast in the morning.
Most importantly, we are treated like special guests each time.
Hands down our favorite place to stay in Tahoe! So beautiful in the winter with the water raging past the windows as your sitting and eating an amazing meal! The continental breakfast is an outstanding way to start your day before hitting the mountain. With Alpine Meadows and Squaw so close it makes it the perfect snow sport destination. Such a bonus to check into your room, walk over to the bar and grab a cocktail with an amazing dinner at hand. Be sure to book a table, the restaurant gets packed! This happened to us one afternoon as we were leaving Squaw. The road out was super slow and as soon as we turned onto highway 89 a car coming from the opposite direction had a sign saying 80 was closed! I immediately called River Ranch and snagged the last room! Such a life saver! And the staff, incredibly friendly. Always, a great experience!

When my husband and I met I couldn't wait to take him to my favorite place in the whole world, Tahoe. I fell in love with floating down the Truckee and couldn't wait for him to experience it, too. To make it extra special I booked the River Ranch. He loved it as much as me and we returned every year. After we got engaged, we announced our engagement to our family and friends in the restaurant and spent the weekend celebrating. We honeymooned in Tahoe, floating down the river every day and lounging at the River Ranch without a care. But things really came full circle last summer when we finally felt our son was ready for Tahoe and the Truckee River. It was such a special moment to see him squealing with delight as we made the last turn to the dock. Each morning he would run out of our room to explore what the naughty bear did the night before while I sat in the dining room sipping coffee proudly. I was finally able to share the place nearest and dearest to my heart with him. We will be back every year, the River Ranch holds a special place in all our hearts and we look forward to all the vacations and memories to come.
Hi. My kids and I love River Ranch Lodge because of the river, restaurant, and we are allowed to bring our dog. They love looking at the River while we eat and they love the spacious rooms. I personally like having the restaurant right there and really like the happy hour:-) Both my boys are on devo ski team at Squaw and we have stayed at River Ranch Lodge often. We've been coming up for ski team at least five years now and we love it there!
My two daughters and I have stayed at The River Ranch several weekends per season for the past three years, and couldn't be happier. We think of it as our home away from home in Tahoe. Danielle and Jessica at the front desk always remember us, which makes us feel so welcome. The restaurant and bar have a chill, festive atmosphere, and my girls always love coloring on the kids menus. The rooms are cozy, homey and well appointed. And you can't beat the location for skiing Alpine or Squaw. The rates are reasonable, and we love the comfortable familiar feeling we always get when we pull in for the weekend. Thanks to everyone at The River Ranch for making us feel like part of the family!
River Ranch Lodge epitomizes the Tahoe experience. I am a west coast transplant from New York and this New Yorker misses her winters and snow. On our pilgram trip to Tahoe we took a friend's recommendation and booked the River Ranch Lodge for 3 days over New Year's. There sat the lodge amongst the pines and the snowfall waiting to welcome us inside. We fell in the love from the moment we unpacked our car and set down our belongings in our comfy quaint room bedecked with bears and the wooden cabin accents. We loved our cozy drinks at the bar with the fireplace going and the warmth and banter with the staff and fellow visitors. We loved our dinners in the cozy restaurant where I pioneered and tried the elk medallions and now that's all I want to eat when I'm up there. If you want to be looked after and you want to enjoy the true Tahoe experience and you are lucky enough to get a reservation; the River Ranch Lodge will surpass your expectations. It's a Tahoe haven.

We love staying at your little hotel it doesn't matter if it's summer or winter spring or fall we love it all. Summertime is wonderful because of the rafting and we end the day with dinner And a few cocktails. My personal favorite is the beet salad! Yum! We especially like your concert nights that are always Fun!
OK switch gears to winter and I love the coziness of your little hotel after a long day of skiing. We were just there with our Texas friends this past Christmas vacation. Yes, we were the ones that were probably a little loud playing cards and dominoes. Again a few cocktails had something to do with this. We also love your staff they are always helpful and friendly. We have stayed at your hotel for many years now. Thank You for the memories.
A picture is worth 500 words or less, this one says it all! We were married there in May 2016, best woman, best party, best wedding and best venue.
