Experience Tahoe Year Round

The River Ranch offers a warm, casual atmosphere, fine dining, welcoming lounge, and cozy, convenient accommodations... Perfect for any season.

In the winter the River Ranch welcomes skiers and boarders from nearby Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows as well as many other ski resorts in the area. Stay close to the slopes, relax and enjoy a cocktail in our popular aprés ski fireplace lounge, or experience our award winning restaurant, a year-round favorite of both visitors and local residents.

In warmer weather the patio becomes a lively hub of summer activities including barbecue lunch daily, and weddings. Visitors arrive by river raft, car or from the bicycle/walking path running along the property. Once dinner begins, however, the spirit remains casual while the mood becomes more tranquil and the service more formal. Whether you sit inside or on the patio, the river setting is perfect for dinner on a summer evening.

History
The colorful history of the picturesque and historic lodge dates back 100 years.

Originally called the Deer Park Inn, the resort was completed in 1888 and grew into a fashionable watering spot on a narrow gauge railway which ran along the Truckee River. The Inn remained a popular resort until the Great Depression in the 1930's, when tourism came to a standstill. The Inn was abandoned and became dilapidated through disuse. In 1950, the old structure was cleared and a new River Ranch Lodge building was erected on the same site, primarily operating as a tennis camp. During the 1960 Olympic Games at nearby Squaw Valley, numerous foreign diplomats used the Lodge as their headquarters. Continuous renovation has made the River Ranch into the cozy, wood shingled lodge it is today.
